    01 · THE GOAL

The dream is Canada. The path has rules.

Study, work, family, permanent residence. Each route has its own forms, deadlines and evidence. A small mistake can cost you years.

    02 · THE PROBLEM

    When a file goes wrong.

A refusal, a procedural fairness letter, or a refugee claim marked abandoned. These come with short deadlines, often only days or weeks.

    03 · THE SOLUTION

A licensed lawyer who explains it plainly.

Nitin reviews your situation, tells you your real options and odds, and builds the file properly the first time.

        Guides

Read this before a deadline passes.

General information only, not legal advice. Every file is different, so speak with a lawyer about yours.

        PFL

Got a procedural fairness letter? Do these four things first.

        Read the guide

A procedural fairness letter (PFL) means an officer has concerns about your application and is giving you a chance to answer before deciding. Treat it as your last clear opportunity.

        1. Find the deadline. It is written in the letter and is often short. If you need more time, ask for an extension in writing before it passes.
        2. Identify each concern. List every issue the officer raises. Your response must answer all of them.
        3. Answer with evidence. Documents, records and sworn statements carry more weight than explanations alone.
        4. Get advice before you reply. What you write becomes part of the record, including for any later review.

Misrepresentation: why "I didn't mean to" is often not enough.

        Read the guide

Under section 40 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, a person can be found inadmissible for directly or indirectly misrepresenting or withholding material facts. A finding generally means a five-year ban from applying.

        • Officers do not have to prove you meant to deceive. The exception for honest mistakes is narrow.
        • A false document submitted by an agent or representative can still count against you.
        • Check every form for gaps and inconsistencies with earlier applications before you submit.
        • If IRCC raises misrepresentation in a fairness letter, your response matters a great deal. Get advice first.

        RPD · RAD

Refugee claim refused or abandoned? Know your clock.

        Read the guide

The options depend on what the Refugee Protection Division decided.

        • Refused: many claimants can appeal to the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD). The notice of appeal is due within 15 days of receiving the written reasons, and the full appeal record within 30 days.
        • Not eligible for RAD: some claims, including withdrawn or abandoned ones, cannot go to the RAD. Judicial review at the Federal Court may be possible, with a 15-day deadline.
        • Abandoned: in limited cases, an application to reopen may be possible. Act quickly.

Missing these deadlines can end your options, so get advice the day you receive a decision.

        Frequently asked questions

How do I check that a lawyer is licensed?

Search the Law Society of Ontario's public Lawyer and Paralegal Directory on lso.ca. Licensed immigration consultants are listed with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. Only licensed representatives may charge for immigration advice.

Can you guarantee my visa or PR?

No. Decisions are made by IRCC and the Immigration and Refugee Board. No honest representative can guarantee an outcome. What Nitin can do is prepare your file properly and tell you your real chances.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Your passport, every letter you have received from IRCC or the IRB, copies of past applications, and a short timeline of your immigration history. If you have a deadline, bring that letter first.

My previous representative isn't responding. Can you help?

Yes, you can change representatives at any time. Nitin will review where your file stands and what deadlines apply, and the representative form on file can be updated.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes. Lawyers in Ontario have a strict duty of confidentiality, and communications for legal advice are protected by solicitor-client privilege. Please don't send sensitive documents through the booking form; bring them to your consultation.

How much does a consultation cost?

Consultation fees are set by the office. To confirm Use the fee estimator above for a sample range of professional fees.

Do I have to come to the office in person?
